Emma Barton - Occupational Therapist: MA Assistive Technology and Service Development, BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, Advanced Diploma in Dementia Care

Emma Barton has worked as an Occupational Therapist over the past 20 years working with older adults with mental health difficulties and specialising in working with people who have dementia, their families, friends and carers. Emma has held senior management positions in the NHS and currently works as a Professional Head Occupational Therapist in the NHS.

Emma has a degree in Occupational Therapy, from Exeter University and also holds an Advanced Diploma in Dementia Care and a Masters in assistive technology and service development.

Emma utilises the Model of Human Occupation in her practice and is calibrated in the use of the Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS). She is also trained in Home Based Memory Rehabilitation and the Allen Cognitive Level Screen. Emma takes an active interest in Dementia research and has been the Principal Investigator on dementia studies.

Sarah Richardson- Occupational Therapist: BSc (Hons) MSc Advanced Care in Dementia, PgDip Occupational Therapy

Sarah Richardson has specialised in Dementia Care for over ten years and after completing Occupational Therapy training undertook a Masters in dementia care from the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London.

Sarah has worked within NHS Memory Service settings, acute hospitals and within clinical commissioning developing dementia services across London. Sarah has extensive experience in delivering training to care homes, GP’s and non clinical settings.

Sarah has a clinical interest in falls in people with dementia. She works holistically with a person with dementia and families and uses an integrated approach. Sarah has worked for a number of years within a national dementia charity.

Emma and Sarah represent the Royal College of Occupational Therapy on the accreditation committee and the standards review committees for the Memory Service National Accreditation Program (MSNAP)

Continuing to be me offers individual Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention for people with dementia and their carers; dementia consultancy training and education to a range of providers and settings including NHS trusts and care homes.
